Anwar's practice has always seen him maneuver between art and technology. In this exhibition, Anwar presents a series of works titled ‘The Water Tanks’ (2021), which challenges our manner of looking at this public utilitarian object. The work suggests the idea of it being an echo chamber; as it amplifies the beliefs of those trapped inside it.

‘Echoes’ is a one-channel video unveiling the structure of the tank perpetually collapsing unto itself without revealing what’s inside of it. Next to this work, the same water tank appears as monochromatic drawings executed by his self-built drawing robot, relinquishing his agency in executing the drawings.

Constructing the water tank’s different facades and layers through technical and artistic approaches, Anwar postulates how the water distribution system works; mere speculation, as he assumes a familiar - yet foreign - system that he could not apprehend as it belongs to a field outside his own.
