ICAD 12 CURATORIAL, RESEARCH & WRITING
In today’s art and design world, curators are storytellers in their own right - working hand in hand with artists and designers. Our Curatorial Team is no exception; they oversee the detailed process starting from research, and conceptualisation, to presentation.
In serving their roles, ICAD’s Curatorial Team is equipped with a dedicated Research & Writing Team, each with their own expertise.
Lead Curator
Amanda Ariawan is a young art writer and curator currently working in Jakarta. She obtained her MA in Contemporary Art Exhibition Production from Université de Lille 3, with High Honours. Amanda has worked on several curatorial and art managerial works in both Europe and Southeast Asia including at the Venice Art Biennale. Through her exhibitions and writings, she hopes to participate in amplifying the voices of Southeast Asian artists. She leads the ICAD’s Curatorial Team for the first time, bringing a fresh perspective on contemporary issues, including the proximities between art, technology, and the notion of public.
Guest Curator
Prananda L Malasan, PhD graduate, is currently a researcher at Design Ethnography Laboratory, Faculty of Art and Design, ITB. His various research projects center on the social and cultural aspects of design practice. He believes that the design process is the result of an active dialogue between the designer and the various parties involved or indirectly affected by the design, rather than just the designer's prerogative. His research findings have been published in academic journals as well as popular articles in print and online media.

ABOUT ICAD
Held for the first time in 2009, for over a decade, the team behind Indonesian Contemporary Art and Design (ICAD), under Yayasan Design+Art Indonesia, has devoted their expertise by creating a platform meant to bridge art and design with other disciplines ranging from fashion, film, hospitality, technology, F&B and more. It is the first and only exhibition which initiates the collaboration between these various disciplines.
In a concentrated effort to achieve this, ICAD has established its name by offering curated exhibitions and programs highlighting cutting-edge creations and innovations of our times. Their annual events, taking place in Jakarta’s happening lifestyle neighbourhood Kemang, have featured prominent artists, designers, and cross-discipline creators from across the globe.
ICAD has also partnered with prestigious international platforms such as Milan SuperDesign Show, La Biennale di Venezia, and London Design Biennale, in curating and showcasing Indonesian art and design to the world.
